I'll let August introduce the album :"We've been building this sound, constantly reshaping and focusing it into what we hear in our minds. The writing process is extremely collaborative, with songs getting passed back and forth over and over again during the writing/recording process. Nothing is ever settled and nothing stays stagnant. We constantly attempt to push the boundaries of ourselves and each other as far as what we can do. Our last attempt produced this album. The goal always being to match what is in your mind, with what is “out loud” in reality.
“A Silhouette in the Hourglass” is actually a literal title taken from lyrics on “Through the Ether”. What it means is a small snapshot in time, which pretty much sums up what the album is to me.
We really wanted to make something that was honest, holds nothing back and isn't safe. "
